This Privacy Policy explains how Forked (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Forked iOS app, related services, and useforked.com (together, the “Service”).
Forked is a Recipe Manager. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.
Who we are

What we collect
Account and profile
- Email address
- Display name
- Optional profile photo
- Authentication identifiers from Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In
- Preferences such as measurement system, week start day, and dietary notes you choose to save
Recipe and kitchen content you create or import
- Recipes, ingredients, steps, notes, collections, meals, rotations, and shopping lists
- Photos and images you attach or ask Forked to generate for recipes
- Household membership and invites (including invite links and, for some legacy invites, an email address)
- Content you import from links, share sheets, photos, PDFs, or other recipe apps
- Visibility settings you choose (private, household, or public)
Usage, diagnostics, and device data
- Product interaction events (for example, which tabs you open or when you import a recipe)
- Crash and diagnostic data
- App version and basic device identifiers used for analytics and App Check
- A Firebase user ID linked to your account
We configure analytics so advertising storage, ad user data, and ad personalization are denied. We do not use this information to track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising.
Website
The marketing site may receive standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and requested URL) needed to operate hosting and Universal Links. We do not run advertising pixels on useforked.com.
How we use information
- Provide, sync, and secure the Service (accounts, libraries, households, imports)
- Power features you request, including Make mode, planning, Inspiration, and Recipe Ask
- Show public recipes or collections only when you set that visibility
- Understand product performance and fix crashes
- Enforce rate limits, prevent abuse, and protect accounts
- Respond to support requests and legal obligations
AI features
Some features send recipe text, images, or related prompts to third-party model providers (currently including OpenAI and Google Gemini) so we can import, adapt, suggest, or generate content you asked for. We send what is needed to fulfill the request. Do not put secrets or unrelated personal data into recipe fields or Ask prompts if you do not want that content processed by those providers.
When we share information
We share information only as needed to run Forked:
- Service providers. Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Storage, Functions, Analytics, Crashlytics, App Check, Hosting), Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store services), Google Sign-In, and AI providers named above.
- Household members. Content you share with a household is visible to other members of that household.
- Public visibility. If you mark a recipe or collection public, others may view and fork it.
- Legal. If required by law, or to protect people, the Service, or our rights.
We do not sell personal information.
Retention and deletion
We keep account and library data while your account is active. You can delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account). Deletion is scheduled after a short waiting period so you can cancel a mistaken request; after that, we permanently delete account data we control, subject to backups and legal retention needs. Public forks created by other people from your recipes may remain as their copies.
Security
We use industry-standard cloud security controls, encrypted transit, and access rules on our databases and storage. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
Children
Forked is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
- Update your profile and recipe visibility in the app
- Leave a household or delete content you own
- Delete your account in the app
- Email support@useforked.com to ask questions or request access or deletion help
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising those rights.
Changes
We may update this policy as Forked changes. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, when changes are material, provide additional notice in the app or on this site.
